Clinical Practice Session

(The AKINow Recovery Workgroup assisted with this session suggestion.)

https://www.asn-online.org/education/kidneyweek/2023/program-session-details.aspx?sessId=450309

Session Description

Development of AKI during a hospitalization is associated with an increased risk of CKD, CVD, frequent readmissions, and decreased quality of life among survivors. Several therapeutic interventions have been proposed to promote AKI recovery, but data in support of their impact on clinical and patient centered outcomes are variable. The session discusses the evidence behind key areas of controversy in the therapeutic approach to AKI survivors.

ASN thanks the ASN AKINow Recovery/Post-AKI Workgroup for assistance with this session.

  • Distinguish the dialysis techniques used in AKI survivors to promote recovery from those used in patients on chronic dialysis
  • Critique the evidence for sick day protocols and educational interventions in AKI survivors

Learning Pathway(s)
