What is World Patient Safety Day? Monday, September 17, 2023

Recognizing patient safety as a global health priority, all 194 WHO Member States at the 72nd World Health Assembly, endorsed the establishment of World Patient Safety Day to increase public awareness and engagement, enhance global understanding, and spur global solidarity and action to promote patient safety. Evidence shows that when patients are treated as partners in their care, significant gains are made in safety, patient satisfaction and health outcomes. By becoming active members of the healthcare team, patients can contribute to the safety of their care and that of the healthcare system as a whole.
