The International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis in 2020 concluded that there is no high-quality evidence to use urea or creatinine peritoneal clearance to assess dialysis adequacy. These updated guidelines recommend prescribing peritoneal dialysis to maintain quality of life and limit symptoms of patients rather than target the removal of urea or creatinine. This session discusses the data that prompted the updated guidelines and other means to assess adequacy and individualize treatment.
ASN thanks the ASN Home Dialysis Steering Committee for assistance with this session.
