Objective
Human factors experts want to make dialysis safer by making infection prevention easier
Introduction
Scientists from Virginia Tech are partnering with the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to learn how people do their Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) at home.
The team wants to know:
- What makes it hard to prevent infections?
- What do you do to prevent infections?
If you agree to participate in the project …
The team will visit you in your home, one day, for about 3-hours. The team will talk with you about how you do your PD every day. The team will ask to watch as you prepare for treatment. They will also ask to watch as you do exit site care. If you feel uncomfortable at any time, you can ask to leave the project.
