Dr Graham Abra is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University and served as the Chief Medical Officer, Home Therapies at Satellite Healthcare. He completed medical school and Internal Medicine training at the University of California, San Diego where he spent an additional year as the Chief Medical Resident. He completed nephrology fellowship at Stanford University and spent two years at the Stanford Clinical Excellence Research Center. His current clinical practice focuses on the care of patients with advanced Chronic Kidney Disease and the management of home dialysis. He served as the Medical Director of WellBound San Jose, a home dialysis facility for half a decade and has worked in a variety of administrative roles at Satellite Healthcare for 10 years including serving as the Medical Director of the organizations ESRD Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plan. He is a member of the PDOPPS US Advisory Workgroup, has been a site investigator for both the Tablo and Quanta SC+ home hemodialysis Investigational Device Exemption trials, is Associate Editor of Nephrology News & Issues, Chairs the Home Dialysis Academy of Excellence and is on the NephJC Advisory team.

Dr. Bansal is a clinical Professor of Medicine, and Director of the Home Dialysis Program and CTSA-Hub Liaison Team at UT Health San Antonio. Her vision and leadership using a team approach established a successful PD program in 2011 and she fervently promotes this underutilized modality to the patients and fellows locally and nationally, addressing the issue of a shortage of home dialysis competent nephrologists. She is a councilor of ISPD-NAC, member of ASN – Home Dialysis Steering Committee, and HDU faculty.  Dr. Bansal also co-founded and has been directing the annual cardiorenal connections symposium.  She was the recipient of the 2023 Presidential award in Clinical Excellence.

Joanne Bargman is a staff nephrologist at the University Health Network and Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto.  She received her MD cum laude from the University of Toronto.  She pursued nephrology training at Stanford University.  Her research focused on renal physiology and micropuncture.  Upon returning to Toronto, she was recruited to the Toronto Western Hospital where she trained in peritoneal dialysis under Dimitrios Oreopoulos.  She has more than 900 invited lectures internationally, on subjects as diverse as peritoneal dialysis, glomerulonephritis, and management of lupus. She is Director of Peritoneal Dialysis for the University Health Network in Toronto, Past-President of the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis, and co-director of the Combined Renal-Rheumatology Lupus Clinic for the University Health Network.

Dr. Maria Camila Bermudez is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and serves as the Associate Program Director of the Nephrology Fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center. She completed her nephrology fellowship training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine / Montefiore Medical Center. Her current clinical practice focuses on expanding access to home dialysis, patient empowerment, self-cannulation, and independent home hemodialysis. Serving as Medical Director of Home Dialysis for over a decade, she leads initiatives to support independent care and achieve positive vascular access outcomes through team-based training.

Dr. Bermudez was awarded a health system quality fund to enhance patient education on dialytic options, driving growth in both home dialysis uptake and early transitions from in-center hemodialysis. She is a member of the PDOPPS US Advisory Workgroup, serves on the DaVita Home Dialysis Professional Advisory Board, is a board member of the Medical Education Institute, and is a frequent contributor to American Kidney Fund patient empowerment initiatives.

Dr. Christopher Chan is presently Director of the Division of Nephrology, Professor of Medicine and holds the R Fraser Elliott Chair in Nephrology.  Dr. Chan is the Deputy Physician in Chief of Economics and the Medical Lead of Connected Care at the University Health Network.  He also serves as Associate Editor for the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology and is the President of the International Society for Hemodialysis.

He has contributed over 250 peer-reviewed articles and has written multiple book chapters in the field of home dialysis. His current research interests include the clinical, genomic physiological changes of intensive hemodialysis, cardiovascular disease in chronic kidney disease and sleep disorders in patients with end-stage renal disease.  He has championed and defined clinical use of home dialysis, leading and coordinating a large network dedicated to the clinical and basic science aspects of optimal dialysis delivery. Dr. Chan have received multiple awards and was recently honored by Temerty Faculty of Medicine 2020 Dean’s Award for his leadership and impact on renal replacement therapy. Dr Gould is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Medical Director of outpatient hemodialysis in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Vanderbilt University, as well as the Associate Vice Chair for Patient Safety and Quality within the Vanderbilt Department of Medicine.  Ed is a member of the ASN Quality Committee, co-chairs ASN’s Home Dialysis Steering Committee, and he serves on the PD Core Interventions for Infection Prevention Workgroup and the ASN Quality Committee.  His interests include PCKD, Home Dialysis and Nephrolithiasis, though much of his time is now spent in system/process redesign and implementation science.  An avid gardener, he can be found most Saturdays in the yard tending to his green spaces.

Dr. Miller is the Michael A. Kraus Clinical Professor of Medicine at Indiana University and the Kidney Service Line Leader for Indiana University Health Physicians. He leads clinical nephrology at 7 affiliated hospitals, multiple outpatient nephrology clinics and dialysis centers. Prior to arriving at Indiana University, Dr. Miller was a Professor of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis for over 2 decades where he was active in the kidney transplant program and director of home dialysis modalities. He has served as an investigator in many home dialysis trials, including the Frequent Hemodialysis Network Trial and the NxStage Medical Nocturnal Hemodialysis IDE study for the Food and Drug Administration.  He has served on the Scientific Advisory Board of of NxStage Medical and the Medical Advisory Board of Fresenius Kidney Care. He has been active in ongoing home dialysis education educational initiatives such as the Home Dialysis University, Advanced Renal Education Program, Annual Dialysis Conference and the American Society of Nephrology online curriculum. Many of his trainees and mentees have become clinical leaders in home dialysis therapy and is particularly interested in developing the next generation of leaders in home dialysis.

Dr Jeffrey Perl is a staff nephrologist at St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He is a prior recipient of The John Maher Young Investigator Award from the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis and has received several teaching awards at The University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital. His primary research interests, clinical practice  and teaching focuses on improving universal access to and clinical outcomes of home dialysis. Dr. Perl is a primary investigator in The International Peritoneal Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (PDOPPS) and co-principal investigator of the Optimizing the Prevention of Peritoneal Dialysis-Associated Peritonitis in The United States (OPPUS) study. He also co-chairs The American Society of Nephrology home dialysis steering committee and is previous chair of the ASN home dialysis subcommittee of the American Society of Nephrology COVID-19 response team. He is editor-in-chief of Peritoneal Dialysis International and recently co-chaired The KDIGO Home Dialysis Controversies Conference. He formerly served as chair of the ISN young nephrologists committee and co-chair of the ISN North American Caribbean regional board.

Dr. Matthew Rivara is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.  He received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and completed a residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by clinical and research fellowships in nephrology at the University of Washington.  He currently serves as Chief Medical Officer for Northwest Kidney Centers.  He is a member of the American Society of Nephrology Quality Committee, and is a core faculty for Home Dialysis University.  He is a member of the Education Committee for the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis, and serves as a Council Member for the ISPD North American Chapter (NAC).  His research has focused on clinical and patient-reported outcomes for patients treated with maintenance dialysis, with a focus on home dialysis modalities.

Dr. Anjali Bhatt Saxena, MD is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Stanford University and Director of Peritoneal Dialysis at SCVMC in San Jose, California. Dr. Saxena completed her BS degree at Duke University and received her MD from Wake Forest University. She completed both her Internal Medicine Residency and Postdoctoral Nephrology Fellowship at Stanford University, and is board certified in Nephrology. Dr. Saxena has served as the Medical Director for an independent Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) Clinic in San Jose, CA since 2004, overseeing a large PD clinic.

Dr. Saxena is devoted to sharing her home dialysis expertise through education worldwide. She has been a key faculty member of Home Dialysis University (HDU) since 2007, providing home dialysis education to hundreds of US Nephrology Fellows and Nephrologists at all levels of experience; in 2024 she became HDU Program Director. She serves on the ASN Home Dialysis Steering Committee and is a founding member of the International Home Dialysis Consortium (ISN-ISPD). She has delivered numerous invited lectures at international meetings and has published scholarly work on PD in various peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Saxena is dedicated to the growth of PD worldwide; she is the immediate past-Treasurer for the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) and Past-President of the N. American Chapter of ISPD. She is an Educational Ambassador for the ISN, and with colleagues has supported the growth of PD in low income areas of Sri Lanka.

Rebecca Kurnik Seshasai received her Bachelors of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Shah is Assistant Professor of Medicine, Nephrology Fellowship Program Director, and Medical Director for Peritoneal Dialysis in the Davita North-Providence program in the Division of Kidney Disease and Hypertension at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He is an expert in home dialysis (both PD and HHD) and the intersection of planetary health and kidney disease, areas in which he is well published and has lectured both nationally and internationally. Dr. Stern is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in Nephrology at the Chobanian and Avedisian Boston University School of Medicine. She has been active in medical student and resident education since 2011 and currently serves as the Director of the Integrated Renal Physiology and Pathophysiolgy PISCES course for first year medical students. She is also a Field Specific Advisor for fourth year medical students who are applying for residencies in Internal Medicine. She has previously served as an Associate Clerkship Director to the third year medical students in the Medicine 1 clerkship and as a core faculty member in the Internal Medicine Residency with a focus on curriculum innovation for residents.

Her clinical practice focuses on home dialysis therapies and she is the Medical Director of the Home Dialysis Program, which provides peritoneal dialysis and home hemodialysis for patients with end stage kidney disease. In addition, she is also attends on the renal consult service, dialysis and transplantation service, and sees patients in the general nephrology clinic. She has been teaching faculty in a number of national home dialysis courses and served on a number of committees through the American Society of Nephrology. Dr. Stern received her B.S. with Honors in Zoology from the University of Florida, M.D. from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and M.P.H from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency, chief residency, and nephrology fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.

Dr. Teitelbaum is Professor of Internal Medicine/Nephrology and Director of the Home Dialysis Program at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora, Colorado. Dr. Teitelbaum has been an active clinical nephrologist for over 35 years. He oversees the care of 50 home dialysis patients in addition to maintaining a busy clinical and consultative practice.

Dr. Teitelbaum serves as a consultant to industry and has actively participated in several clinical trials and numerous educational workshops. He has published or co-authored over 135 articles and/or book chapters and serves as a reviewer for numerous journals.
