Flu & People with Chronic Kidney Disease 2024–25 Influenza Season
People with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are at higher risk of developing serious flu complications, which can result in hospitalization and even death. People with CKD at any stage, people who have had a kidney transplant, and people who are undergoing dialysis treatment are all at increased risk of severe illness from flu.
Statement on Immunizations from the ASN
ASN encourages all health professionals who interact with kidney patients to follow immunization recommendations from the CDC in order to reduce the risks from vaccine-preventable illnesses in people with kidney diseases.
